Can I just say...I LOVE having a weekend to myself (no carpools or commitments)...to just browse stores and flea markets at my leisure... pure heaven!!
Happily yesterday my son joined me for a delicious early morning breakfast...on our way to "the hunt"... and we sat in front of a roaring fireplace and delighted our stomachs with some pretty fantastic pancakes! A decadent breakfast also is on my list of top faves!
Here's a quick recap of what caught my eye...

This incredible pheasant feathered 1940's hat was just magnificent. I wanted to buy it just to display (but I am really trying to use restraint these days). The vendor explained to me that a hat like this is no longer feasible in the marketplace because pheasant feathers by law cannot be used anymore..if that is true this is a genuine collectible! Isn't it beautiful?
Speaking of collectibles... this little guy was wandering around playing with every little toy that caught his eye...his little outfit made us smile!
These magnificent (robins egg blue) milk glass goblets were just incredible...it was all I could do not to take them home...(sigh)...
Growing up my family had this exact toboggan...one of the best things about estate sales and flea and antique markets is the memories they evoke as you walk the aisles...
I am really "THINKING PINK" for the holidays...here are a few of the ornaments I found.....
I also found this large crown during my travels this weekend. My husbands only comment was ..."the Queen finally has her Crown"....
I first painted it gold and felt it was too predictable... so... do you see that tiffany blue spray paint in the backround? Stay tuned because I will feature where I went with this project later this week....
These were an interesting purchase...my son and I found this collection of iron crosses and I felt that if I gilded them up a bit they could be pretty fabulous in a holiday setting....I am not sure what I am doing with them yet but I love them....
More found ornaments...
I also found this lovely bronzed angel and I began playing with a mantle display for the holidays...I stacked her up against a gold glittery wreath that I recently found and put an antique pink ornament in her halo...not done yet but liking the direction we're headed here...
What beautiful finds.....
ReplyDeleteThe best...that dashing young man!
Can't wait for tomorrow.
Must have been right before you- saw all those treasures too! I really looked at that angel and decided I didn't need it! But now that I see what you have done to it - I realize I realllllly made a mistake! Looks awesome. Can't wait to see what you do with the crosses - you clever girl! Susan@Romancing the Home
