Camp Rosemary...Day Six...our visit ends!

I'm a bit sad...but mostly just inspired...as we leave Camp Rosemary today...there have been so many wonderful moments and vistas during our stay. If you would like to begin the week anew...click here.

You know that line in the movie When Harry Met Sally when the woman in the diner says, "I'll have what she's having"...that is what I feel like when I look at the lushness and amazing color of all Camp Rosemary vegetation...my plants want what they're having for lunch! There is not one lackluster bloom!!!

Fun little vignettes like this make me smile...

I could spend days at Camp Rosemary and never get bored...

The hedges are just the most awe inspiring element within this vast garden.... it takes such talent to make them so perfect...

Even the succulents look like they're on steroids...lol...

I have never seen this kind of "tree stabilization" technique before...but I think it is brilliant!

An orchestra of green...playing in harmony...

our view as we begin to wander to the front of the property...

The bus is here..we must run! I hope you loved your week at Camp Rosemary! If you are ever in Chicago in late July (usually an annual Open Days Garden event) it is worth a trip...Camp Rosemary is open to the public infrequently but this is one date on the calendar I try not to miss!

I hope you are spending a lot of time outside this weekend...our weather here is lovely...hope yours is too!

Camp Rosemary...Day Five!

Happy Friday Campers! Can you believe we only have one more day at this wonderful estate? The bus rolls out tomorrow and we will have to leave wonderful Camp Rosemary...if you want to revisit the week...the tour begins here.

One of the garden gates...along with it's "doorman"...and below a look inside a wonderful greenhouse...which is something I long for within my own garden...SOMEDAY (sigh)!

One of the guest cottages on the property...

and the large courtyard in front of it....

a few other views looking inside the greenhouse...

and more fabulous plantings within the courtyard....

another charming seating area as well...they are just everywhere...

This little charmer is one of my favorite structures on the property....

So many things to admire...this wall of wonder is further down in the courtyard on the wall of another building...

the other side of this building...no spaces left untouched...

and further still is this garden...the number of gardens seems to never end....

and then the lawn behind with fun surprises and a magnificent tall hedge....

with a swing (of course) in a huge tree...which (of course) my bunk mates enjoy....

Mademoiselle "M" doing her thing....

and Mademoiselle "D" going a bit rogue...she "snuck" her cell phone into camp...I won't tell...lol!

Behind one of the guest cottages....

and I will leave you with another view of that magnificent hedge....

Tomorrow's our last day...so get a good night's rest so we can begin bright and early before the bus fetches us and delivers us home! XO...for a look at Day Six click here!

Camp Rosemary...Day Four!

We have been busy this week at Camp Rosemary...exploring all the fabulous spaces within such a magnificent garden!  As one visitor exclaimed while exploring the grounds..."when does my plane leave for the States?"...since one really feels like you are in a marvelous European setting. If you would like to begin at the beginning please click here.

This little hideaway is so charming...

The majestic flowering gardens roll throughout...

Perfectly manicured lawns create such a wonderful scale to the garden...

So many spots to sit and just marvel at such beauty....

and remember this incredible out building from earlier in the week?

It overlooks the pool...

and underneath the covered terrace the decor speaks to my Swedish roots and love of Gustavian design...J'ADORE!

inside the building...oh my...you just can't believe...french doors with palladium windows abound...so much light...truly breathtaking...I can just imagine the elegant parties....

I love the attention to details everywhere...

including the ceiling of the terrace...painted a pretty Gustavian blue hue!

around one corner of the building more interesting plantings...

and a little whimsy for fun...

the south side of the building provides a grand entrance...

and a wonderful formal hedge garden...

Tomorrow we move on to some of the other areas of the property that are as beautiful...it is hard to believe that so much fabulousness can be found in one space! Sleep well campers! XO
