My inspiration in choosing the paint color and gold applique' on the top of the wall was influenced by my time spent in Henri Bendel dressing rooms...(btw...I STILL miss the Chicago store!!!).
Every now and then I have to switch up the decor in my office...I simply get bored. I think I am on my fourth or fifth redo in 11 years.
Here is what the office looked like earlier this Summer... I had draped an antique table with linen fabric and had billowing curtains on each window....
and here is what it looks like now.....
another view....
and the view from my desk....
I re-merchandised the shelves, painted all the frames white...and of course re hung some plates....
I then added a bold silk black ribbon to the edges of the shelves for some fun extra "pop"....
which ended up looking like this.....
I took old hat box tops (you can find these at any of the chain decorating stores).....
painted them white and put black ribbon on the sides and took a high gloss black paint and painted a feminine silhouette on each for fun...a quick nail in the wall and voila....art!
the antique draped table (aka desk) from the first picture was originally wood.... so of course I had to paint it! My girlfriend had purchased zebra fabric that she decided not to use and I couldn't let it go to waste AND she was very generous to let me have it.... so it is now preserved " under glass" to give the desk some added "wow"! I loved the shelf below the desk for added merchandising space! A new rug was added for a bit of luxe too...
I also wanted to share my take on "flowers in a vase" with this pretty visual but handy display of all my favorite odd and ends pieces of papers that I use often....
I made a new bulletin board with contact numbers and some daily inspiration....
and a bulletin board that sits on a "hidden wall" that I can see from my desk with all the fun things my kids bring me or invitations etc...or fun photo booth pics...just the fun stuff and since it is hidden it can be a little messy!
I am still figuring out window treatments....if any in the space....the views and light are so nice I really don't want to do anything yet....but I do want to purchase this wonderful chair from IKEA for the other side of my desk...my kids like to visit and I need a comfortable place for them to sit...but the space is small and the scale of this chair is perfect...
All in all I like the space much better now...it is more updated and lively...but stay tuned...you know me...it will probably change again in a year or two...have a wonderful weekend!!

Your office is so cozy and bright! I like the peach color combined with some of the ornaments. Our company is going to transfer on a new office space in Singapore. I just want to know some of your insights about color combination. Anyhow, thanks for sharing this article Emily!
