Lilacs do not usually appear in the Midwest until mid to late May. Even with the burst of colder air this week lilacs are beginning to bloom. I love lilacs. Their fragrance is intoxicating and I love getting bursts of it - a sensory suprise- when out and about. I planted lilacs on the west edge of my front yard so when I am coming and going or just sitting I can enjoy the western breeze pushing the sweet smell in my direction....
